Director Luc Besson’s upcoming film tentatively titled Malavita has Oscar®-Winner Martin Scorsese as officially appointed Executive Producer. Malavita is EuropaCorp and Relativity’s mafia action film, starring Oscar®-Winner Robert De Niro, Oscar®-Winner Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron and John D’Leo. Before the official appointment, Scorsese worked informally with Besson, offering creative consultation. In his new position, however, Scorsese will continue to offer insight throughout the film’s post-production and editing.

The mafia action film Malavita, in theaters October 18th, is the story of the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way.

Malavita is a film adaptation of the book Badfellas by Tonino Benacquista. Expect to see Malavita in theaters on October 18, 2013.
