This isn’t the first time Chris Rock has written, directed and starred in his own film. However, this does appear to be the strongest offering he’s put together yet. It’s probably because the material is a lot closer to home since he is essentially playing himself. It can be argued that he was playing himself in his previous films as well, but at least the profession of his character is familiar territory. Here’s to hoping that the film isn’t just one long act out from his stand-up routines and that this turns out to be a satisfying romantic comedy. Look for it in theaters on December 5, 2014 with a wider release on December 12, 2014.
