Netflix members have another way to enjoy their streaming movies — on the Nintendo Wii. The movie rental service is already available on the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. Expanding the Netflix service to the Nintendo Wii is probably a very wise financial move since the Wii is currently trouncing the consoles handily.

Hollywood’s studios are expected to benefit significantly, as well, and are expected to earn more coin from the digital rentals of their TV shows and movies through Netflix now that Wii owners have access to the service.
Netflix members will be able to access the service through their Wiis by inserting a disc that will be provided by Netflix. Sony’s PlayStation 3 owners need a similar disc, although Microsoft’s Xbox 360 owners have instant access through the console.

The real exciting bit of information I got from this article is the news that an HD Wii could be revealed at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Crisper graphics may help allay some of the concerns that hardcore gamers have about the Wii.
