A celebrity’s life is fast and furious. From dodging paparazzi to painting the town red every night, no celebrity has time to slow down. It makes sense then that they’d receive some training in living in the fast lane. On May 20, for one day only in Sonoma, CA, Oakley invited a handful of our favorite stars to be part of the “Learn to Ride” event where they’d pick up some sports car driving skills – not that useful in Los Angeles rush hour traffic, but perfect for future PR stunts. R8 and TTS cars were provided by Audi as were the professional drivers giving the lessons at Infineon Raceway.
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, took advantage of the Oakley “Learn to Ride” Audi Sports Car Experience – at least Ivery did, anyway. Pompeo stayed with baby Stella to feed and play with her while husband and father Ivery took to the track in an Audi R8. Afterwards, fresh from having driven at speeds in excess of 100mph, Ivery ran up to Stella and gave her big hug! Then the family stepped out to get a bite to eat the famous French Laundry and grabbing some coffee and pastries at Bouchon Bakery. Lucky for Pompeo and Ivery, the French Laundry’s chef’s wife is a big Grey’s Anatomy fan, so the star and her family were given a private tour of the restaurant. Finally, despite being in town primarily for the Oakley “Learn to Ride” Audi Sports Car Experience, Pompeo enjoyed architecture and style of Yountville since she’s a design and home aficionado.
Parenthood was also represented at Infineon Raceway. Costars Dax Shepard and Mae Whitman took one of the Audi sports cars for a spin, with Shepard behind the wheel and Whitman hanging on for dear life. As a joke, Shepard tried to set Whitman up with the Oakley professional driver who had to decline because of his girlfriend.
Aaron Paul was also spotted on the racetrack in Sonoma. The Breaking Bad and Emmy-nominated actor was accompanied by his new lady, Jacqueline Novak.
All of the celebrities that attended had a fabulous time. In addition to test driving some of the hottest vehicles around and picking up new driving tips, all of the drivers were outfitted with Oakley gear to not only enjoy the high-speed driving, but also look great doing it.
