Game app developers take notice! Gameforge, one of the world’s leading online game providers, will be sponsoring the AppArtAward in the Game Art category of the ZKM | Centre for Art and Media Technology (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe). If you are an independent developer using the game app development as a medium for artistic expression, then you could win the Special Prize for Game Art, valued at €10,000, if your smartphone or tablet-PC game app is innovative, critical and/or subversive. This international prize will be awarded for a second time on July 13, 2012.
“By sponsoring the Game Art category of the ZKM AppArtAward, we aim to support and promote independent developers of creative gaming apps,” said Alexander Rösner, CEO of Gameforge, regarding the company’s involvement.
ZKM has already started accepting entries and developers can send their submissions to ZKM up until May 11, 2012. In addition to the Game Art category, developers can also be awarded prizes for Artistic Innovation, which are apps that take advantage of the artistic freedom of apps, and Cloud Art, which explores cloud computing possibilities in a creative and artistic manner.
