Hungry for more Hunger Games news? Lionsgate has announced today that Amanda Plummer will play Wiress in the next film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Plummer seems very well cast for the eccentric role — the character is even nicknamed “Nuts” by tributes. Plummer is best known for her film roles in The Fisher King and Pulp Fiction, and she can be seen in the upcoming film Abigail Harms in the title role. On top of her film career, Plummer is also a Tony Award-winning actress on and off Broadway.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force as well as producer Jon Kilik. Look for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in theaters on November 22, 2013.
