More Hunger Games casting news – Jena Malone is cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the upcoming sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Johanna Mason is a previous victor in a past Game, who is one of the youngest participants in the Quarter Quell. Unfortunately, she’s also one of the most psychologically scarred.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
Fans of Jena Malone will recognize her from her work with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton in the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys. She also played the role of Rocket in Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, and performed in The Messenger and Into the Wild. Look for her in the upcoming production of Lonely Hunter.
Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE on November 22, 2013.
